Before installation

  • the tail lift model and structure, to choose the right sensor brackets (single, dual or triple)
  • the vehicle power supply, typically DC 12V or 24V
  • that the installation position lets the sensors cover both side edges of the tail lift platform
  • a location for the control box away from heat and likely impacts

The installation process

A standard system (for example the LD2503/LD2504/LD2505) includes:

  1. Control box: with universal infrared or laser sensor and a 3-metre cable
  2. Two sets of safety brackets: with sensors and screws

Installation generally takes about 2 to 4 hours, depending on the tail lift model and vehicle structure. The main steps are:

  1. Secure the sensor brackets and adjust the sensor angle and spacing so that coverage meets the requirements
  2. Mount the control box and connect the wiring
  3. Run a functional test: confirm the sensors detect obstacles and stop the tail lift
  4. Test the release-to-reactivate function: after a stop, the button must be released and pressed again before operation can continue

Daily use

  • Operators should visually check the sensors for dirt or damage before each use
  • Do not alter the sensor position or angle, as this affects detection coverage
  • If detection distance or response seems abnormal, stop immediately and arrange an inspection

Regular maintenance

Monthly visual check

  • Confirm the sensors are clean and undamaged
  • Confirm the brackets are secure and screws have not loosened
  • Confirm the wiring is secure and free of damage

Half-yearly full check

  • Have a professional technician perform a complete inspection and functional test
  • Check that the sensor angle and spacing still meet requirements
  • Test the full system, including release-to-reactivate and fail-safe functions

Keep records

Keep the installation certificate and maintenance records. They are useful for audits and for diagnosing faults quickly.
