What is in the system?

A typical tail lift safety system (for example the LD2503/LD2504/LD2505) includes:

  • Control box: the core of the system, which processes sensor signals and controls the stop
  • Sensors: infrared or laser, mounted on brackets at both sides of the tail lift platform
  • Brackets and cable: hold the sensors and connect them to the control box

How it works

Step 1: continuous detection

Sensors are mounted on both sides of the platform edge and continuously scan the operating area. Infrared sensors use a beam; laser scanners sweep the whole area with a laser.

Step 2: detecting a person or obstacle

When a person or object enters the danger zone, interrupting the beam or entering the scan area, the sensor sends a signal immediately.

Step 3: automatic stop

The control box receives the signal and immediately cuts the hydraulic power, stopping the tail lift to prevent a crushing accident.

Step 4: confirmation before restarting

After a stop, the operator must release the control button and press it again before the tail lift can continue. This is the release-to-reactivate mechanism.

Three core functions

1. Release to reactivate

Prevents unintended continued operation. After each stop the operator must confirm the situation and press again.

2. Fail-safe design

If the system fails, the tail lift stops automatically so it cannot keep operating without protection.

3. Compliant detection

Sensor spacing and detection distances follow the relevant standards and Hong Kong Labour Department requirements, so the whole operating area is covered.

How to confirm the system works

Before leaving the depot, run a simple test: place an obstacle in the operating area and confirm the system detects it and stops the tail lift; then confirm that the button must be released and pressed again to continue. If the response is abnormal, arrange a professional inspection immediately.
